Astronomy

April 23, 2014

this is my ecstasy of non-attaining:

she stood in the window like a cloud

and rained on my bed

pinned me down with thunder

flashes of light kept my eyes locked and dreaming

for a second

I held tightly what should be held

for a lifetime

of lifetimes.

Now she is circling as my satellite.

One day soon she’ll crash in my vicinity

I’ll put away the telescope

to haul her from the curling  sea.

And I will hold,   loosely

for a lifetime of lifetimes

a second of her

(2010)
