We forget

We are lighter than air

Wings will simply encumber us

Trapped as we are in apparent solidity.

And this farce of Being

These figments of numbers, these webs of

Days, moons, bodies

Lull us into dreams of eternity

We kiss, sipping the rot of the Other.

Written on a wall of water

We are spectators to the death of stars

More real than us

We are their future that never was.

So we stare seduced or take flight

From our reflection on this vast Nothing

We have taken to calling God

Taken in by our vanity

Or:   spooked at the sight of stars

Cracking.

Learn to say good bye-

A feeble gesture, but our lone voluntary act

The exit is as sudden as the entrance

Before and beyond

Thought.
